Composting tips

Any tips for composting? I started when I moved into my house, but the compostable bags i have kept breaking and leaking everywhere about 2 days into a new bag. So I ended up cleaning this up constantly and using a bunch of paper towels and clorox wipes, which really defeated the purpose to me. Can we skip the bag? From the rules I saw from Minneapolis, I thought it said a bag was required. Is there a better brand of bag that doesn't break and leak immediately (one time it only lasts the first day, it was leaking by the time I put the next mornings coffee grounds in)? Any help is appreciated!

Unfortunately due to being compostable, none of them hold up super well. We use BioBag brand, and what helped us was not using bags any larger than 3 gallon which forces us to tie off and replace every couple days. Then for warmer months, we put the full 3 gall bags inside a 13gall bag that sits inside the bin that we roll out to get emptied.

That's a good idea, we just had a small bin like a gallon sized, so we had bags that were maybe like 3 gallons, I don't remember what brand bag, amd I know the bin we had came with a roll, and that one was breaking the fastest

I put my bag inside a big coffee tin with a sealed lid. Helps with the smells too
