Meals for whole family

When is the right time to stop being so strict on salt etc? Our LG is a great eater so we want to stop having to make variations of our dinner and to stop us eating plainer than we would like but not sure when this is okay? She’ll never be given chips with salt for example as we make proper meals at home but most recipes call for and need their share of salt / stock cubes / spices etc.

We've relaxed a bit on the salt intake, I do use some stock although try to use less than the recipe. The recommendations is less than 2g per day for 1-3 year olds so it's not as strict as for babies. If you're cooking a lot from scratch then a bit of salt here and there should be fine

I give my LO: - same bolognaise as us but ive stopped salting the pasta water - seperate small amount of mash potato for him before adding our extras (his has some seasoning but we sometimes have bacon bits or spicy seasoning in ours) - we don't salt our rice, so he gets the same as us for that and then limit amount of sauce he has (e.g. small amount of curry or bolognaise in leu of chilli) - sane chips and nuggies as us

I stopped shortly after she turned one. We went on our first holiday abroad with her around that time and so she was eating highly salted restaurant/ hotel food all week and didn’t turn to dust, so when I came back I was a lot more relaxed about just cooking how I normally cook. If she’s eating things that are separate to us or it’s easy to separate a portion out for her I won’t salt hers, but I don’t usually modify our family dinners anymore for example

We just put salt on the adults portions after its already plated up!
