Potty training

My daughter still isn’t potty trained (not for the want of trying). We have tried several times to do it and the first day is really positive but the second day, we find she is really lethargic, stressed out, clingy, sleeping more (she doesn’t nap). I just don’t know what to do - do we just try again another time or keeping persevering?

We tried in May last year. COUNTLESS accidents. After 4 days we stopped as was incredibly stressful for everyone. Started again New Years Day. We did bare below the waist for three days and had zero accidents. Day 1 we prompted every 30 minutes. Day 2 every 60 minutes, and by the evening he was fully self initiating all wees and poos. Adding in pants has been harder as it triggers the 'muscle memory' to just wee. So we went back to prompting every 30 minutes, and today every 60 minutes. We've had 3 accidents today. (Day 5 potty training, second day in pants) Basically. When they're ready it is sooo easy. Zero stress. Can't believe I even tried to persevere last time after seeing how easy it can be. With my baby I deffo won't make the same mistake again! I'd try the above for a couple of days and you'll know for sure.

May not be ready. I tried back in the summer and my little girl was not having any of it and getting extremely stressed. One day she just said she wanted knickers on and from then we’ve literally had 1 accident and that was about 6-8 weeks ago. Then she has decided she doesn’t want a nappy overnight and is completely dry - not one accident. The only thing we haven’t grasped as she point blank refuses is poos on the potty or toilet, she still demands a nappy but she’ll get there. I’d say take the pressure off and she’ll do it when she’s ready x

Thank you both. Turns out she was cutting her very last tooth 🤦🏼‍♀️ I think we will just leave it a while and see. Luckily nursery are very supportive and understanding 🙏
