My last pregnancy i was scanned every 2weeks as she was growing small, they estimated her at 4lb and said her femur length was WEEKS behind so she was gonna be out of proportion etc etc so i got induced (i think was 2wks after last scan….. she came out weighing 6lb and totally normal legs 🤷🏻♀️😂
Yep - I had one at 35 weeks. This was my second growth scan, as when my midwife measured my bump, she said it was still on the smaller side. Had the growth scan and everything is absolutely normal - baby is currently weighing 5lbs 7oz. I think it is just a protocol that they have to follow. The first time I was referred for a growth scan, I was really worried. The second time I felt okay. It gave us another chance to see the baby and I felt reassured that everything was progressing well. Wishing you all the best. 💕🙌
I had one before at 36 weeks and induced at 39. Baby was smaller than I was told!
I had fortnightly growth scans with my second from 30-36wks, percentiles went like this accordingly 25th, 10th, below 10th then 25th - my ob said to take the last one with a grain of salt as it was likely measured wrong because babies don’t make those kinds of jumps in growth at that stage by that much and the bigger/further along you get the harder it gets to get accurate measurements. My baby came at 38+6 weighing 6lb8oz. Currently measuring small again so will be having growth scans again.
I was told at the growth scan I had in my first pregnancy that the measurements aren't very accurate. All of the measurements at my growth scan and the fundal height done by the midwives came up smaller than the size my first was born as. I've got a growth scan for this baby tomorrow so we shall see what they say 🤷
Scans are never accurate… there’s always a 20% margin roughly (or more) of error either way. If it ends up accurate it’s just by chance. They aren’t intended to be accurate and the purpose is to be a guide. Scans are a snapshot in time, baby could’ve had a recent growth spurt and do appear bigger but tail off or vice versa. Also depends on how clear baby is and who’s measuring, only takes a fraction of difference to make percentiles vary. That said they provide some insight and so medical decisions may be made dependent on what’s seen, usually just ongoing monitoring because the more scans they can do the better picture/accuracy they will be able to piece together but still not accurate because it can’t be. They are also handy for checking blood flow/fluid. My first was measuring small but caught up and was 15 days overdue so born 3.5kg. This one is under 10th centile so bit more concern but all we can do is monitor. A lot can change!
I had my 35 week groth scan baby measuring small 5.8lb but he’s still got time to put weight on got another scan in 14th should be given a date then to when I’m having him as I’m having to have another c section
I have 4 weeks before. Baby showing big and I have birth to 91st percentile baby
I'm due a 34 week growth scan next week. Haven't had any issues so.far just baby measuring small at my 28 week scan xx
