We tried over xmas but gave up because we felt she was holding it too long. She went from 9am until 2:30pm one day before having a wee and sooo many accidents. Just didn’t seem to get the association of telling us prior to needing it and we’d had her on the potty every 20 minutes xx
@Natalie I think sometimes they are just not ready and that's OK. We are trying, that's what counts x
We're trying at the moment, we offer a reward (his favourite snack or a sticker on the sticker chart) each time he uses his potty, but we've had 4 accidents this afternoon.
We tried in May last year. COUNTLESS accidents. After 4 days we stopped as was incredibly stressful for everyone. Started again New Years Day. We did bare below the waist for three days and had zero accidents. Day 1 we prompted every 30 minutes. Day 2 every 60 minutes, and by the evening he was fully self initiating all wees and poos. Adding in pants has been harder as it triggers the 'muscle memory' to just wee. So we went back to prompting every 30 minutes, and today every 60 minutes. We've had 3 accidents today. (Day 5 potty training, second day in pants) Basically. When they're ready it is sooo easy. Zero stress. Can't believe I even tried to persevere last time after seeing how easy it can be. With my baby I deffo won't make the same mistake again!
Thanks all! First day trying pants for my little boy today! He’s been using the potty for wee’s every now and again for a while but not wanted to try pants so haven’t pushed it! We’ve been reading potty books and he decided he wanted to try pants today! We had 4 accidents in total, two smaller wet accidents where he’s made gone to the toilet to finish and then two bigger wee accidents! But no poo for today, feel it’s been fairly successful, will see how the week goes 🤞🏻
That sounds like progress. The method I did said don't use underwear for like 4 weeks at least as that makes it more difficult. Can feel like a nappy for them.
The first few days we did no pants and stayed in the house which worked really well for us! Mage if you can, try that when you know you won’t be going anywhere for a few days and dedicate them to kickstarting the potty training. accidents will still happen but that’s fine they’re bound too it’s a new thing for little ones to take in
Yesterday we only had one accident, although he waited until he was in bed with his nappy on to do a poo 😅
You definitely need to wait until they are ready. I was getting so frustrated with potty training but back in May/June they finally cracked it. Before then they weren’t ready. Although accidents will happen for the first while and any major events could result in accidents happening.
Lots, we've still not cracked it. My 3 yr old wee's constantly, little wee's, never seems to stay dry. So we stopped. He absolutely knows what to do but he can't seem to stay dry for 30 minutes....x
