Long Recovery ( C-section not healing )

Has anyone had a C-section that took a long time to heal ? Long story short I had preeclampsia at the end of pregnancy. Was induced at 37 weeks and had a C-section due to not dilating pasta 4 and water broke for 22 hours . After staples were removed I had a lot of fluid . The steri strips didn’t even stay on a day and a week later was infected . I was sent to the hospital were they only opened up the two sides as the rest was healing well . I have been packing them for almost 5 months and still have two snake hole wounds . I was finally sent to a wound clinic where they are trying hydraforablue but in 3 weeks if not resolved they recommend being cut back open and using a wound vac . I’m so tired of this pain and mentally am drained . I’m scared for the future … any advice or similar experiences welcomed !

Mine did. I was induced at 37 weeks because of high blood pressure. Her heart rate dropped to 3o right after my water was broken because my umbilical cord ripped off my placenta. Ended up with an emergency C-section. 9 days later my incision opened, had a second surgery to clean it out and close back up, a week after I had a small pinhole leaking, caused by a seroma (pocked of fluid). My dr cut an inch incision, I had to be packed from the end of January 2024 until the end of may 2024. Took almost 6 feet of 1.5in packing at first! It took a long time! It’s not comfortable but does eventually close!

Use your packing qtip to measure how deep your wound is all the way around, if less and 2-3cm then you should only have a few weeks left, month tops as long as your changing your packing every day and keeping it clean!

It’s been stuck at 3cm on the right side and 1cm on the left for a month now . It has become infected 4 times over the past 5 months. I do the same thing everyday . Cleaning with saline water , packing it , keeping it covered and powdered so no yeast can grow . They used hydraforablue on the right side but the left is to small . I’m just scared about the surgery and hope it’s not necessary because the holes are so small compared to the beginning . The doctor is thinking there’s something deep in there they can’t see of why it won’t close up .

I rarely ever cleaned with saline, Mr Dr said it wasn’t necessary. But if you’re staying infected so frequently I would clean it once a week at least. How often are you changing your packing? And are you using gloves and a new packing tip?

Changing once everyday and yes to the qtip and gloves .

What kind of packing are you using?

It’s odd you keep getting infected. That will definitely stall healing

Iodoform 1/2 gauze strips

Try using the plain, the iodoform isn’t necessary! Maybe you don’t react to it well

Can you get a different doctors opinion? Pay for a private consultation ? You can ask a gp to refer you. I'm not sure how much an appointment is, but it cost £100 when I had one for vertigo years back, then I was referred back to the nhs and didn't have to pay anything else .
