I contacted school admissions to check. We're not eligible for a fine until the term after he turns 5. We took him out in December and got a letter from school denying the request, but knowing they can't fine. We're taking out again in April, I know school will deny again. Our little boy can't cope with busy environments due to SEN. We've told them whilst we can't get fined we'll be doing it. Once fines start and legal proceedings could happen from missing school, then we won't be because we can't risk it with our jobs. Just means out little boy won't be having holidays unfortunately because he cannot cope with them during school holidays
It’s 5 and over. You’ll have to put a request in to the headteacher, it’ll get declined but just ignore it 😂
@Emily it's not actually 5, it's the term after they turn 5. So for example, if a child turns 5 in April they can't be fined until the September. If the turn 5 in March, they can be fined from April
@Frankie this is such a shame sorry to hear that, I agree with taking out whilst fines can't take place, that's why I booked one this year before he turns 5 in June, cus I know next year I won't be as lucky x
@Emily yeah got declined last year but said we wudnt get fined as he wasn't of compulsory school age just wasn't sure with the rules changing in August whether they'd changed that part also x
It’s the term after they turn 5 the fines kick in
Thanks ladies for all ur responses xxx
@Frankie oo thank you!! We went last year when he was 4 so just ignored the declined request. He turns 5 in June so we have until September 2025. Great to know 😅😅😅
Not at 4, as compulsory school age is 5… so the term after they are 5, you’d start to get fined
