Babies at this age use a palmar grasp meaning they pick everything up with their palm, then bring it to their mouth. This means everything that goes to their mouth has to be longer than their palm so the overlap can go into their mouth. In the next 3-6 months they will start using their fingers to pick up food and that's when you move to smaller, bite size pieces. This size is great now though for letting him play with and explore the textures on his hands. This will lead to positive food associations and (hopefully) keep him from becoming a picky eater. He is absolutely precious, you're doing a great job!
It is scary at first!! Just keep trying different things to get comfortable and don’t feel rushed- it does feel counterintuitive but the babies just seem to get it so I felt better once I saw my baby eat more things and saw that nothing bad happened 💕
Nope! I was shaking in my boots too 😂 being nervous about choking and potentially messing up my son’s gut. But the resources the other ladies posted were shared with me as well and they’ve been helpful. 🌹
I am also so nervous about baby led weaning so we’ve mostly been doing mashed up foods and these spoons have been really helpful I just load it up with food and hand it to baby and she puts it right in her mouth! https://a.co/d/2NJkebo
