Have a look at 'Life After Teaching - Exit the Classroom and Thrive' Facebook page, there's lots of posts of people saying what they've moved on to and occasionally people will post job adverts they've seen/where they work that'll be good for ex teachers. I'll be honest, it can be a pretty negative group (about teaching) but if you've already decided to leave that doesn't matter too much I guess! Many have gone on to work for the Civil Service if that helps.
@Carys thank you! I’ll be sure to check it out! It’s a shame I love elements of the job but I feel I’m missing my family
I've been contemplating the same, I'll be supporting my class through plays/trips/activities etc but won't be able to support my daughter through the same because of not being able to book random days off. Saying that, my school is very good and I spent pregnancy arriving at 8 and leaving by half 4 almost every day and I refuse to take work home. I am also aware it's a very good pension and I think that, and the children most of the time, is what's keeping me in teaching. My Dad keeps saying to work at the school down the road (instead of the 40 minute commute each way) but it's so unknown how the workload will be I may end up being worse off!
