My lo is the same... we tried some pureed mango this week but is didn't go down well... think we may turn to mashed sweet potato instead as it's warm... definitely going to get the Ella's kitchen book as heard some amazing things about it.
We started on mash potatoes, then brocoli, courgette, parsnip, avocado and sweet potato. Luckily she's loved everything but they say 10 trys before they really know!
We started with purées that are single veggies. I suggest starting veggies first so they not refuse them due to preference of sweet stuff. We are now doing a mixture of blw and purées! Whether you decide to do purées, I would suggest picking up some veggies and making them yourself, if you have time! I found it to be much more cost effective. Puree them and pop them into ice cube trays pop out when done!:) Blw - we’ve just started but we’ve done like soft carrot, broccoli, mash, avocado, toast, crumpets bits like that! It can be really nerve racking cause they will gag and cough bits up as they learn how to swallow but I would suggest reading up on what the difference is and when to intervene, I helped me calm a bit. Time wise goes like this for us: 7am - 7oz milk 7:30/8am - breakfast 11/12- 7oz milk 3/4pm - 7oz milk 4:30pm - tea time 6:30/7pm - 7oz milk We got a set of suction bowls and cutlery in the shape of a train (so cool) from Amazon for £8 and it’s been great!
Thanks all
How many meals per day should I start with and does it matter which meal I start first? I want to start lunch first with purées. Have downloaded Ella weaning guide 😊 my girl is exclusively breastfed. How often do you offer water in a day
Just one meal a day for the first few weeks, then you can move onto doing two meals a day once they start seeming more hungry for it usually it’s around 7 months they’ll need 2 meals, you want them to be having 3 meals a day by 9 months old ideally. And offer 2-3oz of water with every meal x
I'm using the Ella's kitchen guide which you can sign up for free, I bought the book and also Joe Wicks secondhand. We've started on purees, few teaspoons at lunchtime. Will introduce more texture and finger foods next week (week 3).
