Hello - my little girl is very similar ! Although not potty training or trained . She often goes in the bath and I think it’s more that the warm water relaxes their body a bit more . Plus if she is anything like my daughter - such infrequent movements mean it’s quite painful and so it’s sometimes easier in the bath . We usually get lots of tears too . Movicol should just make it a bit softer and easier to pass . I would say it’s probably a phase and to try not to make a big thing of it - we always say if you need to go that’s fine etc and it hasn’t happened in a while since we stopped being so panicked about it . Xxx
@Joanna I think maybe you're right and the water does help, we have always talked her through a bowel movement calmly and with encouragement as we're at a point where we don't really care where she goes as long as she goes🤷♀️ since she was little as it has always stressed her out and made her upset. We haven't found her movicol to be making much of a difference other than if she has too much and then she struggles with the runs🤦♀️ her consultant is suggesting moving her onto something as she gets older but apparently this causes painful cramping etc I'm so desperate to help her figure out what it is before we get to that stage😓
Been dealing with this for ages with my 2 year old. We're just coming out the other side, she had the movicol and since being potty trained has got a lot better. Try sitting her on the potty with a book x
My daughter struggled with constipation for a while which caused her to get really upset to the point of scream crying every time she needed to poop, we found adding more fibre and fresh orange juice to her diet helped soften her poop to make it easier for her to poop and helped her to understand pooping is ok x
@Jade she does eat quite a good diet and loves her fruit and veggies but i might look into some sort of high fibre bar or something she'll see as more of a 'treat' x
My little girl was the same and iv introduced a daily vitamin for her which really seems to help- we notice it now if she’s not had it! Nutrogen Vegy
It’s so stressful - when my girl hasn’t been for ages she also becomes so unhappy and it really shows in her behaviour and I understand as she must be so uncomfortable. Xxx
Had some struggles with my sons constipation recently and I introduced once a day smoothie and probiotic powder with it and seems to be doing the trick ,so far daily bowel movements .Also it does sound like the water relaxes him and that’s when he is most comfortable doing a bowel movement, you could try putting a pull up on in the first ten minutes of the bath or as others suggested potty does help with going to the toilet
@Gemma i'll look into that, thank you x
Why has she got so much anxiety over this? Maybe you need to change in diet, her poo’s may be too solid and causing some hurt?
