I’ve had to switch formula 3 times and the 3rd formula finally did the trick to resolve all of our issues. It’s $18 more expensive per can than the others were and doesn’t even last 1 week. But I think it’s worth it, she was having so many issues on the other 2 formulas. Also, my pediatrician office has been amazing at giving me free formula. They’ve probably given me a few hundred dollars worth of free formula at this point over the last couple of months. They’ve even told me I can call and pick some up whenever I need it. I’m not taking advantage of them so I’m not doing it too much but whenever we have a check up I ask if they have any and they always give me a ton. Doctors offices get them for free from the companies and also one of the medical assistants told me that they expire and they have to throw them all away so she told me whenever I need it just come and get it because they don’t want to throw them away. Check with your doctors office!
@Emma did you do a phased switch of formula or just straight swap? I don’t wanna upset his stomach but he’s already having the issues anyway- I’ve seen lots of people have said they have these kind of problems with aptamil. Glad it’s working better for your LO!
We just did a straight swap. I’m not sure what’s recommended but we were just desperate at that point to get him to a point where he wasn’t uncomfortably anymore so just went for it.
I’ve not used the comfort formula specifically but switched from aptamil first milk to cow and gate first milk. It’s been the best decision we’ve made! My LO was gassy, constipated and appeared to have stomach pain on aptamil. Tried infacol and colief on the HV’s advice but ended up switching to C&G and he’s a different baby. So much more chilled and comfortable. And saving some pennies really helps! My LO is 8 weeks now and we made the switch at around 5 weeks. Obviously every baby is different but this was our experience.
