I used the 30 hours funded childcare and stretched it over the year so I was entitled to 22 hours a week. My daughter did 24 hours a week so I paid the extra 2 hours and a consumables fee every half term. So on top of the funding I paid an extra £130 a month except when I had to pay the consumable fee which was an extra £30 every half term x
The nursery I used for my older children charged £2.50 an hour for consumables. I’d ask the nurseries what the extra charges are all nurseries seem to have their own way of charging for this some better than others.
Also worth being aware the 15/30 free hours are only term time. I think most ‘all year round nurseries’ can spread the free hours evenly over the whole year, when I was getting the free 15 hours that worked out to be 11 hours free every week instead of 15 for just term time.
Depends on the nursery tbh, mine includes nappies and meals etc in their normal rate x
It seems pretty standard for nursery's to charge for consumables. We viewed half a dozen and they all charged for extras if you used funded hours. Also worth noting that they're 'funded' hours, so not necessarily entirely free! Xx
My 3 year old gets 30 hours, he does 3 days a week at a private nursery which they charge for a 10.5 hour day as a full day and we pay about £290 a month after taking off the ‘free’ hours. When we were getting 15 hours ‘free’ for the same 3 days it was around £680 a month x
It depends if you do term time only or stretched the through year as to how many hours you get a week. So if you did term time only you would get 15 hours a week but have to pay for food or stretched for us works out as a full day a week and we pay food. For our 3 year old we pay £120 a month for food all hours covered
