You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to. You can opt for finger pricking, you just have to advocate for yourself! I didn’t even do the 1 hour test. I didn’t want to. I did a week of finger pricking, numbers were all good, and that was all. 😊
Currently typing this in the middle of my 3-hour glucose test! It’s sucky, but worth ruling out. Had a very similar result as you did (140) and prefer the peace of mind. Sending good vibes!
@Ashley good luck on yours!!!! The three hour with my first made my throw up for an hour straight and I wound up very hypoglycemic!!
@Elina oh wow that’s good to know! I already have a glucometer so I think I’ll advocate for that!
@Abby that was smart!! I hate that sugary drink! My doc just called back and said I’m severely anemic and my hyperthyroidism has gotten way worse—explains why I feel like crap!! She’s luckily going to let me test my blood sugars and skip the 3 hour test!
Thank you! Been through it before and its just fatigue city and minor headache thankfully
I did the finger pricks for my 3rd and 4th pregnancy. Cant remember about my second. Everything about that pregnancy is fuzzy. I think I did the 1 and the 3 hr for my first & second pregnancy. Then after that I was like f this let’s just prick my fingers. I dont have 3 hrs to sit in the damn waiting room being hungry and sick asf cause i just drank over 100 grams of sugar in under 5 mins. No thanks
I had to do the 3 hour test after failing the 1 hour post-thanksgiving (terrible idea lol) and passed. It wrecked my body for a few days though so if you can just do the at-home pricking would suggest it after my personal experience with it!
I fail 1 and 3 hr glucose test, and I been monitoring my glucose, and insulin, since is still out of range (not much but it is) they want to monitor my baby’s heart. I suggest to follow the protocol that way you and your baby will get the attention you need. Is not easy but I feel safer the extra precautions they are taking. 🙏🏼
@Chloe I feel you!!! This is my third too and ain’t nobody got time for that! My doc is letting me finger prick and everything has been totally normal so far—I will never drink that 100g sugar stuff again!! ☠️☠️☠️
@Brooke ohhhh no!! I can’t believe they scheduled after tgiving! That’s just cruel! The 100g sugar drink is the worst. It made me SO sick with my first that my blood sugar ended up being dangerously low from throwing up so much and I needed to stay st their office for an extra hour so they could monitor my LOW levels
@Naara I hope everything stays ok for you and your baby 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you! I hope you and your baby as well are ok!
Its always good to be sure and do the 3 hour. I heard from many women that they failed by 1 point and ended up having GD. I personally declined the 3 hour cause mine was 4 points over. I did the finger pricks for 2 weeks and my numbers were good so they had me stop. I still check once in a while cause it was interesting for me to know how my body breaks down sugar throughout this pregnancy. Honestly it’s a personal choice at this point.
