They’re basically the same thing but they can’t advertise stage 1
You can stay on stage 1 as it has everything legally that the child needs. The only reason I ever use follow on is if stage 1 is out or it’s on offer with nectar/Clubcard so it’s cheaper x
You don't need to move to stage 2 🙃
Yep echoing all the ladies above - it’s absolutely fine to stay on stage 1. Stage 2 is a marketing ploy
Would it be okay to use stage 2 though? I’ve got around 5 tins- i don’t want to waste them as they’re expensive! x
@Alex you can use them, I’d use them as an emergency stash just in case for if you can’t get ur normal formula. But it’s basically exactly the same as stage 1 with maybe a few differences, so all should be good
From what I read online…brands can’t advertise/reduce the cost of stage 1 formula because the government wants to encourage breast feeding. At 6 months they can call it stage 2 so are then allowed to have offers and deals on the product to promote them. So stage 1 is perfectly fine to continue on. Stage 2 is a slightly different ‘recipe’ but still good, but you may also find offers and discounts on them x
All the HVs I've talked to and Peds online I follow have said follow on milk is a scam, it's the same as stage 1, but they don't have to test it as much as the legal requirements for baby formula
