Baby crying and straining during and after feeds

My newborn keeps crying and straining during and after a feed. We thought he maybe had colic and was struggling with wind so have been giving infacol. But now it seems every time I try to wind half way through a feed, he intensely cries and starts straining/growling. Is this discomfort? A sign he wants more feeding? Something else?

Maybe a milk allergy?

How old is he? What milk is it? Could it be trapped wind even with the infacol? X

Three weeks old and its cow and gate. That’s my guess that it’s trapped wind and doing the bicycle legs and tummy massages but didn’t know if it could be something else

It definitely sounds like wind, can be super painful! .. if you have a look on tiktok or something there are some really good videos about wind. Also wonkywinding I used that when my little boy was a little younger. He's still a nightmare sometimes x

Wind gets better after first few weeks when Thier tummies mature a bit x

We had this exact experience and found a few things that made a big difference. We found out LO actually had tongue tie - noone was really interested as i wasn't breast feeding but he had quite a significant reduction in movement and couldn't touch the roof of his mouth. We changed him to goat milk formula which is more gentle on his tummy but sadly more expensive. And we stopped the infacol! I think the infacol while making his easier to burp was making his belly more uncomfortable.

Could be infant dyschezia!

@Ashleigh was about to say this too!

My baby is breastfed and does this, much less so now but it seems to be wind / reflux. It sucks but you just have to be patient. Wind them after the first couple of minutes (even if they cry when off the breast) and maybe again during and then definitely after a feed.

My little boy was like this, it was colic, I changed milk to colic and constipation cow and gate and he got much better xx
