Baby led weaning

Doing baby led weaning. Worried she’s not actually eating any of it. She just pulls it off the tray. She does put some of it to her mouth but worried she’s spitting it out. Tonight is creamy chicken pasta and I think most of it is either on the floor or on the seat of her high chair. Is this normal and should i be concerned? She’s 9 months. Picture attached just because 🥰

Could you maybe try a mix of BLW and then feeding her if she hasn’t actually eaten very much?

I did try with a spoon but since starting more with the blw with actual solids she’s not interested. She will cry if I try to feed her with a spoon now. I did purées for months a month and a half. Then went on to actual solids and she now hates purées snd being fed

Will she eat from a pouch? Like the ellas kitchen purees just so you know shes having something

You don’t need to revert back to puree to spoon feed. For example the pasta, you can cut into small pieces and then spoon feed

@Neha I know I don’t need to revert. She just flat out won’t accept the spoon. I tried last night to spoon feed her and it just didn’t go well. She felt quite heavy after her dinner tonight and some of it looked like it had gone so I guess just keep going. Think I will call the hv tomorrow for some advice on baby led weaning in terms of how much is she supposed to be eating x

What happens when you give her the spoon?

Try changing the spoon?🤔

Food is for fun until 12 months. She’s probably just still exploring. Ours didn’t start to properly eat until she was around 10 months but wouldn’t eat fully. She’s only just started finishing meals since she turned one. Please don’t worry, stick at it, when she’s ready she’ll eat, it’s just practicing

My two played a lot at this age. My now 4 year old is a great eater and barely picky - she loves all kinds of food, bar spicy, which I'm happy to accept. And my 2 year old eats a good range of foods. Neither would let me spoon feed them. I got to the point at this age where both my girls were a healthy weight and had plenty of energy, so I assumed enough food was going in!

Completely normal. They are still learning at this age and they get their nutrition from formula or breastmilk still so the amount they take isn't an issue yet.
