What are your thoughts on glass baby bottles?

I’m considering using glass bottles for my little one but wanted to hear from other mamas. Are they practical? How do they hold up in daily use? Any pros or cons you’d share? Let me know your experiences!

I don’t have any. I was considering them too. As there better, but the only thing I worry about is the throwing or dropping of the bottle and it shattering. Health reasons I feel like it’s an amazing choice. Danger reasons I don’t. That’s why I’m 50/50 with it.

@Victoria The shattering risk is my main concern too, but the health benefits are so tempting.

I don’t use mine daily. I mostly use them to warm up breast milk and then once warm I transfer the milk to a plastic bottle. There are these silicone holders that can go around the bottles to help your baby hold them/prevent shattering but I haven’t tested it out since I always switch back to the plastic bottle.

@Keriann I’m planning to get bottle sleeves too for extra protection. Thanks for the tip on using them for warming breast milk!

We have used the glass Philips Avent bottles for almost a year now and I can’t recommend them enough! Minimal parts, soooo easy to clean, no plastic 🙏🏼, and durable! They’ve been dropped and chucked around and traveled with and everything in between and no damage or issues! We love them!

I use mine to store the milk in the fridge for a day or two, and then to heat up the milk in. Less plastic seeping in that way. But its unfortunately so unavoidable this day and age.

@Lauren 💫 I’m planning to try Dr. Brown’s since my baby is used to them, but glad to hear the glass ones work well for you!

@Debi I agree, every little bit helps with reducing plastic.

I love mine! I use Dr brown they sell silicone bottle covers to prevent from shattering when on the go or if you drop never had an issue💖

I love my glass bottles the really help and saved me money because I’m using it for all my babies! I just have to replace the plastic top and nipple.

I use Nuk glass bottles, they sell the mason jar ones which are great too! And bibs which has a natural rubber nipple

@Lindsey @Kianna Perfect, great to hear!

Love them. Mine come w baby blue silicone sleeves, I use Mason bottle brand

They’re absolutely fantastic! They can handle a lot of everyday drops but, unfortunately I dropped mine outside on concrete getting into the car and it smashed so I’d advise to always have an extra when you’re out and about x

I have the Dr Brown's glass bottles. Baby likes them and they make me feel less anxious too. I have dropped them short distances (like into the sink), and they've not cracked or chipped. One even fell out of the diaper bag onto gravel and was fine... Though we haven't gotten to the stage where she will try and throw them yet

I used them and had silicone sleeves on them. I think we broke one bottle the whole time and it just landed exactly right to break. We used them for 18 months and my sister is now using them. I did Philip avent.

We use them after the recall with both Avent and Dr. Brown plastic ones and love them!

I didn’t have one for my daughter. But one of my students did. And I was against it bc kids being kids love to throw things on the floor. And that’s exactly what happened and it shattered. No one was hurt. And it’s also heavy!!

@Ruvia You’re right, but I’m not planning to let my baby use it on her own—I’ll be the one handling it to make sure it’s safe.

We used glass bottles! Never broke one, and I full on dropped one on my ceramic tile floor at least once. It actually bounced and didn't even chip. I did have a couple that chipped in other ways, not sure how, I just tossed them when I noticed. I don't regret using glass but my daughter was also never really interested in holding bottles, she always preferred I do it. If I left her with one, I'd put one of the silicone sleeves on it so she couldn't hit it against something, and it was only for a few minutes in her bed while I got dressed. She was just never rough with them, really? I'm sure some babies are worse, depends on the child, but I was comfortable leaving her with them for a few minutes at a time. I bought a few plastic ones once I started doing things like giving them in the stroller or on the go, for safety, but we're basically done with bottles now at 14 months, so never really had a chance to use them.

@Melissa Thanks for sharing! I just got glass bottles with silicone sleeves and love them so far 🤗 I also have a few plastic ones and am thinking of doing the same—glass at home and plastic on the go.
