We took our doona with us and a lie flat stroller. Only had to use it once in a taxi but I was glad I had my own as baby was only 9 weeks old. You get to take equipment for baby with most airlines, jet 2 for example allowed us to take both items for free and then 10kg extra luggage weight in my case x

Following! We go away in March and wanting to know the exact same thing! Heard people say that the car seats abroad are unsafe or not clean but taking it sounds such a faff? How do you go about checking it in etc? Do you have to pay extra? So many questions 😂

You can take your car seat with you. I bought a car seat protection bag so it wouldn’t get damaged and I even filled the rest of that bag with nappies and clothes 💀 The babies are entitled to 2 big items (pram and car seat) so you don’t have to pay extra

We havent needed to bring one as we took a coach transfer and baby sat on our knee as you would do at home

@Marissa could I ask which lie flat stroller you took? X

We rented a car and some rental companies you can hire it with the rental - but some are not great, we did use a car seat cover from amazon. I did this both turkey and dubai. However our last trip to dubai/doha/oman we just brought one whilst we was out there and took it with us.

@Beth only problem i had about taking your own car seat is, when you check it in, it will get thrown around in the baggage department which will damage your car seat which may make it to unsafe to use and depending on the airline, you might not be able take it on board with you.

We don’t take a car seat on “beach” holidays… they have to sit on your knee for coach transfers and if we have ever needed to get the occasional taxi they sit on our knee (as they can here). If hiring a car I’d take your own

@Yasmin get a car seat protective bag! The ones that are padded

We took ours because we were hiring a car.

We took our car seat with us on our week holiday to Poland when baby was 3 months old. You just give it to check in, we didn’t have to pay any extra. But fair warning on our way back they didn’t put the car seat on the plane 💀 we were stranded at the airport with my fiancés dad picking us up in the car and we had no car seat. They shipped it to our home address quite quickly but we never had any compensation for all the hassle it caused with getting home.

I always take my own as we have been abroad twice now and been given ones where the straps or clasp is broken.

We always rent a car when we abroad and use the rental car seats. They aren't the best though I do agree on that!

We take a car seat, wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a car seat bag! It’s free to check in.

@Jess I got a chicco echo as I didn’t want to use our good one and it get damaged. It was great abroad, felt sturdy x

@Marissa thank you! Our son will be coming up to 5 months when we travel and our home pram / bassinet would be way to chunky to travel, it really helps to have recommendations to start with - so overwhelming otherwise 🙏🏻

@Beatriz can you share the link ? Ty!

@Amg https://amzn.eu/d/55iKMoD And then because they don’t weigh the car seat bag, I filled it with clothes and nappies. First, to save some space in our luggage and second to give it an extra layer of protection
