Potty training

I’m looking for advice regarding potty training. I’m expecting my second baby in late may and my son is 2 next week. He’s very aware of his nappy and lets me know when he wants it changed. He can say wee wee and poo and is interested when I go to the toilet. He has a potty and has sat on it a few times voluntarily. My only worry is that I’ve been told not to introduce any new changes between 3 months before or 3 months after potty training (such as a new sibling). And I also heard potty training is best to do in summertime when they’re naked a lot but that’s when I’m due? Should I wait or try get it done now? Thank you!🩷

I think you could totally try now but also expect some kind of regression. But hopefully there won’t be. I think there’s plenty of time before then. We started with my almost 3 year old two weeks ago. We also didn’t do the whole naked thing. We did undies and no pants and when he got better at it he would wear pants too. And we just made sure to do laundry often to have undies and pants ready.

Okay thank you so much! By regression do you mean like a sleep regression while we’re trying? Or just him resisting it? X

Regression from being potty trained. They say don’t start new things because when a new baby comes back lots of things can be different. They could get jealous or want more attention or act out more. Which would sometimes included sleeping worse or not being potty trained anymore so like would need to restart ish. I would definitely keep with it when baby is here. Don’t forget about your first and still ask if they need to go potty or need help with stuff like that to help them continue

Okay I think I will try within the next few days then. Thank you!
