Reusable nappies

Haya So I've started my reusable nappies journey, I wanted to start once my little ones stools where solid so I didn't destroy the nappies 🙈 But I am struggling.... My little one constantly keeps leaking though them 😞 and I don't want to give up and go back to disposable nappies ... I've been changing his nappy during the day every 2 hours and I'm only using one Insert (daytime) just so he can move about a little more and at night I've been putting 3x inserts in and somehow he still leaks , up his back mostly (makes no sense he sleeps on his back ) and during the day top and sides Are the nappies too small ? I'm making it as tight as possible but I feel it's looking uncomfortable especially the night time nappies He wears a size 6 Sainsbury's nappies and a 7 in Aldi disposable nappies and he's 6m old he's a big boy . Please help !!! How do you make them last longer ? And stop leaking ? I've got the juicy bumble and little blooms nappies off Amazon Is there an insert that's thicker maybe ?

We decided to do the disposable at night and reusable during the day just to save us the headache. What it is they can only hold so much pee. So once they go two maybe three times it's time for a change. And if they are waking up throughout the night even if for a moment. Chances are they peed. So those things fill up fast. They say a baby needs changing sometimes every 20 mins.

We keep trying and they leak every single time. Absolutely useless!

I personally use esembly cloth diapers and if I feel he needs a boost I throw in a a bamboo liner that’s from a different diaper I used before OR they also have the liners meant for extra coverage.

@Tessa amazing , do you get them directly from the esembly website?

@Dianna I feel I may have to do this if all else fails . I only use disposable if I am not home

I do disposable at night. Are your inserts microfiber? Microfiber compresses and leaks. You probably need a different type of insert if so.

Do you tuck the crotch area inwards or fluff it out like a disposable nappy? I made that mistake for ages and kept turning the gusset outwards like a disposable! We’ve been using reusable in the day but no matter what I did my daughter leaked at night so she’s in disposables overnight.

Hey love I’ve used cloth diapers since the day my son was born. Best tips I can give, use a hemp and another fabric at night, make sure to get the right fit out of the diaper, do a swish test, and don’t give up. It took me months of trial and error before I finally found a setup that worked for my son.

@Claire I do ... I fluff them out like disposables 😅 That might explain during the day for sure

@Beth I'm using a bamboo insert I believe Any recommendations for another insert ?

@Bella what's the best place to order a hemp insert from ? Any recommendations? And amazing let me try this test out I will , I'm not ready to give up just yet 🥰

@Shan 🌺🥥🌴 I’m not UK based, but anything hemp/cotton mixed. It’s a slow absorber so pair it with something faster like microfiber or bamboo. Do some research on the different kind of insert fibers. I have always and will always recommend a natural fiber like hemp, cotton, bamboo over over microfiber but even I personally pair a hemp with microfiber for overnight as it does well for my little. You may also have a heavy wetter so I would suggest trying to figure out how much he’s peeing and again run through insert fibers on what would work best. Bamboo and microfiber tend to have compression leaks.

We have been using cloth diapers since my LO was born. We were having issues with leaks at first and sorted out that we needed additional liners in the diaper. We use bamboo / hemp liners 2 per diaper and then at night time we use the 2 liners plus an overnight liner which is thicker. Also, we played around with the buttons on the diaper. I think part of the problem was that the diapers were to big. Now that he has grown we don’t have any leaks!

For me, pocket diapers didn’t work. My favorites were the workhorse fitted diapers and a basic cover. If you want to save, there are cloth diaper buy/trade/sell groups on Facebook.

Thank you so much guys this has been super helpful advice 🥰🥰🥰

@Shan 🌺🥥🌴 I hope you figure it out! 😭🫶🏻

Just a heads up, the 2 inserts in the photo are microfiber so they absorb quickly, dry slow, get compression leaks even when doubled up, and should never be put against baby’s skin directly. 🫶🏻
