Biologically normal and the fastest way to get everyone back to sleep. A dummy was literally made to mimic the breast.
I second what Skye and Yasmin said! Also self soothing is a myth, have a look at ‘The Nurture Revolution’ book/audiobook if you’re interested in the benefits 😊 My girl is 2 next month and exclusively feeds to sleep and we’ll do that until she tells me she doesn’t want it anymore!
In the day my little boy who is 10 weeks will fall asleep with a contact nap and at night it is always on my boob from feeding and then I’ll transfer him to his moses basket next to me. I’m glad the above have said it’s normal as my intuition was telling me that it is perfectly fine and as said above, I’ll continue to do this as long as it works and my LO is happy. Just ordered the audible of the book mentioned by Lauryne. Love a parenting book recommendation ♥️
If you think it’s going to drive you nuts later that they only nurse to sleep, it’s helpful to vary up how you get them to sleep. The gentle sleep training stuff suggests putting them down when they’re not fully asleep, but I wasn’t able to do that. If you’re fine with the nursing to sleep, keep it up! I did it until I had to sleep train my daughter, but then I nursed her to sleep for naps for a while after. There isn’t anything problematic with nursing to sleep, it’s just if you do decide to sleep train later it adds an extra habit to have to break. It is also nice to have someone else put the baby down besides you occasionally! But do what works best for you and your family.
my girl is almost nine months now and she will still only fall asleep for me at the boob. dad has been able to get her to sleep tho since i went back to work
@Maneek So glad to hear that!! It’s truly an incredible book I wish every new parent was given a free copy 💗
Biologically normal for babies to fall asleep on the boob. My son will only do this or occasionally over my shoulder if I walk around with him. He won’t take a dummy which I’m half glad about. If you give it you’ve gotta take it away eventually so I’m just leaving him without it rather than trying again.
