Breastfeeding & period

Hi, I have been breastfeeding for 5 months and today I have my period for first time. I thought I won’t have my period at all if I’m breastfeeding. Did anyone have their period while breastfeeding? How did it affect the supply? I have also a cold, don’t know if that has anything to do. 😅 How was your experience?

You can still get your periods even while breastfeeding although it may be irregular. My baby is 5 months now, had my first period on the 5th of December and nothing yet this month 🤷🏻‍♀️

I EBF and have my period regularly since 2 months pp

I ebf and got my first pp period at 6½ months. My cycles have been very hit and miss. That first cycle was 25 days long, second was 21 days and my third was 36 days long. Currently on day 24 for this cycle, tracker app says I'm due on in 5 days. I've not noticed an effect on my supply but I do leak the night before my period starts!

My first one started about 5 months too

I got mine about 2 months pp and then got unexpectedly pregnant off that period and I still ebf, baby is 4 and a half months old and I’m 9weeks pregnant! Amazing what the body can do, but every one is different! I have also just recovered from a horrendous cold. Nothing has affected my supply yet

Yeah, it's more likely if your baby starts sleeping longer stretches at night, or is using a dummy to soothe x

Exclusively bf and only got mine 10months pp, I haven’t noticed a drop in supply or anything other than how annoying pms is 🫠

I EBF and my periods came back 21 months PP. I was on desogestrel idk if that had an impact 🤷‍♀️
