Early Pregnancy Unit at QA

Can you just call up the Early Pregnancy Unit at QA or do you HAVE to be referred by a GP before? Asking if anyone has any experience in this. Started having some cramping and possible blood in my second pregnancy but my GP is unreliable and were so rude and unhelpful with my miscarriage in September and don’t want to deal with that again so curious if I can just call the EPU for advice?

you can just call up epu and explain the situation and they’ll help you or direct you to another team x

Try to go through your midwife? They should be able to refer you too 🥰

My gp were no help either I went through 111 in the end and that gp than contacted the epu for me! X

@Paige I’m only 6weeks and have no contacts for a midwife yet, I’m registered and have my first appointment in a couple weeks but there’s no contact for her :(

I wasn’t sure how far a long I was so they took my blood to check my hcg levels, and they were high enough so booked me in for an early scan, measured at 6weeks 6days! Definitely worth trying!!

Do you have any information? Even where the midwife is based? I was registered with Blake’s in Gosport and just rang up the centre and they sorted it for me. Or like others have suggested, maybe 111? Sending all my love x

I definitely think 111 are the way to go! I managed to get an appointment in a couple of hours!

@Zoe did they say how much blood or pain you had to have before u were able to go in? Or is that something they discuss on the phone, I’m so anxious lol

Yeah so the 111 operator will just run through the basic questions they have to ask like how much blood any pains etc and than you will receive a call back within and hour or so from a gp and they should be able to contact the epu for you! Than I got a call from the epu to come in for my bloods to be taken!

I only had mild bleeding/ heavier spotting and I was still referred x

Go via 111 but if you’re desperate just go to A&E and they will get you through to them.
