I didn’t even start with my son till he was almost 3 as he just didn’t show any interest. Then one day while at the store I asked him again if he wanted to be able to pick big boy underwear and he did so we got some and a potty chair he loved. It came pretty easy for him at that point. He was fully potty trained by 3 in a half. My daughter was almost 3 when she was training and so by 3 totally potty trained. I’m planning on just doing the same with my newest addition coming this spring! Another boy so I will just see when he shows interest as before then it’s pretty pointless as I feel they aren’t really ready and it would just be frustrating for us both!
How old is he? We’ve just potty trained and he picked it up within two weeks (he’s 3 in March). If he’s having frequent accidents I’d say leave it for now and try again in a month or two. Rushing it will just make it worse and it could take a long time or he’ll push back against it. We tried back in summer and after several accidents decided to wait. This time we did half naked for a day and then he asked for pants. He just immediately knew what to do. I know we were very lucky but I really think waiting till they’re ready helps. They’ll understand the urge to wee and how to control it.
Potty training today too and feel your pain! It’s hard work!!
Potty training can be a long process, what I did with my first and just started today with my second I do half the day potty training then the rest I don’t to give everyone a break. I know most people don’t do it this way and truly depends on your child if they’ll regress too much then I wouldn’t do it but both my kids, so far, it worked well and keeps me sane 😂
Girl potty training is hard and stressful! My son is almost 4. We PT him at 2.5 and took a very very long time. Sending you love and patience
I had my husband’s nephew trained in 3 days. He was 3 years old and it was pretty easy Every child is different and if they’re not ready, it can be challenging My son is 2 and is showing no signs of readiness for it so I’m not pushing it
Lovely I've been doing this for 4 months now and his only just starting to poop on the toilet. Sounds like his doing amazing so far!
Honestly it took us about 6 months on and off. He's just started having dry days. He did it when HE was ready, when HE wanted to. We tried pushing, we tried timers, we tried sticker charts, we stopped for weeks at a time. As long as you're setting a routine (potty before nap, before lunch, before you go out etc) he will get there. I hate potty training with a passion
How old is he? It’s possible to train in a few days but only if they are very ready.
I honestly think with boys the golden age for potty training is 3 we’ve been trying since my son was almost 2 and he’s going to be 3 tomorrow and just this week we’ve finally gone 5 days nappy free and him asking to go to the toilet- I my girls were trained within 2 weeks. It’s a different story with boys. Hang in there.
Boys can be challenging. The first day, he took it as a new game or activity. Full training can take months, even years. Pee comes with urgency. The hard part is poo. But potty training, in general, tests your patience. I started at one year old; he didn't get it until three years old, when he said, "Mummy, I want to go pee-pee."
