@Ry cool thank you !
I was told that as long as she's getting dairy in other forms like cheese and yogurt, she doesn't need as much milk. The only milk she'll drink is chocolate, so we try to limit that
We do milk at wake up and a bottle before bed. During the day we usually do one for nap but will give some of asked for. We have watered it down before if our little one asks for more than 3 cups in a day. Or we'll give a small amount in an open cup if he asks for some at a meal. He's often asking for more when he's not feeling well like teething.
@Ry whoa I never heard of the anemia part, how could too much milk cause that?
@Philomena When reading on it, it has something to do with the milk interfering with the way their little bodies absorb iron from other foods.
@Philomena It shocked me as well when she mentioned it.
@Philomena and @Ry , calcium specifically interferes with the bodies ability to absorb iron. It's best to take vitamin c with iron (boosts absorption) and take calcium later. For babies and toddlers, the general recommendation is to limit milk to 16 ounces a day to avoid this and displacing other nutrients that solid food offers. Check this out (yes, it only goes to 24 months, but we're not far beyond that just yet) https://solidstarts.com/feeding-schedules/
I give my toddler 1-2, but my ped says that 2-3 is okay. Anything more can lead to anemia. Don’t go over 24oz.
