Having seen multiple friends babies be admitted to hospital with RSV I would definitely go for it. I am 37 weeks now and so so glad I have had it just to provide extra protection for my baby x
I had mine when I was 30w pregnant, 35w now. The vaccine is not new, it's been used for years, but it recently got free through the NHS for pregnant women. It's definitely worth protecting the baby, even if it's born after the winter period
I had mine at 32wks and I wanted it as soon as I could. But as you're only 20wks, you have time to decide.
I had mine af 28 weeks and am now 34+6, so no issues so far. And that extra protection was so important for me x
I did some reading into it recently (I’m only 16 weeks and due in June) and it says it continues to protect your baby until 6 months old 😊 Just worth knowing!
Its not a new vaccine just might be newly approved where you live. Your baby won't be eligible for the newborn vaccine because it won't be during RSV season but will be able to get it in the fall which provides way more protection than the one received while pregnant. I didn't get the vaccine because my baby was born in October so was advised to wait until they were born to receive their own vaccine.
It protects my baby so I got it as soon as I could.
I’ve just had my 24 week appointment with my midwife to discuss this, we went over quite a lot but the biggest thing that worries me is there is a very small chance of pre-term labour so she has advised me to wait til closer to 36 weeks but I’m defo gonna get it, anyrbing to offer further protection for the baby x
