Tips for Trimming Nails

How do you keep your baby or toddler engaged while clipping their nails? My baby is 12 months old. As she continues to become more mobile, she doesn’t want to sit still especially if she can’t do anything with her hands. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to share? Also, how often do you trim them? Since she was a couple of months old, I’ve clipped her nails every 7-10 days, but I’m wondering if I don’t need to take care of it so frequently.

I always do it when she’s sleeping. Makes it easier.

I also clip my daughter’s nails while she sleeps! It’s quicker and she’s never sat still. I still do hers every 5 days give or take, hers grow very quickly.

I do my sons when he’s just woken up and is still groggy, and I have daddy distract him / play with him.

I sit mine im her high chair and give her a toy in the other hand, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t and I have to do it while she sleeps, what I have a hard time with is her toe nails 🤦‍♀️

I do it while he sleeps! Or I throw on some tv real quick or sing to him

Where does your baby sleep while you do it? Do you bend over the crib?

She also sleeps on her stomach most of the time. Do you find any issues with that?

I just use a nail file when my little guy sleeps

@Emily I’ll let my son nap on me when he needs a nail trim

My husband cuts my son’s nails. I’m too scared! He does it when he’s asleep. We tried doing it when he’s awake using screen time and it works I think one time but then it didn’t work anymore. He does it once a week!

Every 2-3 days after her night shower while watching miss nenna, we have had this little routine since she was born and she usually lets me do it. If she’s too playful I wait until she’s asleep.

I can only clip my son's while he's asleep.
