comfort milk

Hi Everyone, after abit of advice! My little one (now 4 months old) has all the symptoms of CPMA and over the past 3/4 weeks the “rash” side of things have got worse and worse. We have been treated for eczema from the GP but nothing helping. My question is, if i buy the “comfort” formula from the shop- which is partially hydrolysed will the symptoms start to clear if it is CPMA- and if so I would go to GP to get fully hydrolysed. Thanks for any help!!!!

I was told if I breast feed i myself can not have dairy in my diet because even though it gets filtered it's not enough and the protein is still in it and can last up to 5-8 hours and pumping helps knock down the time but it still maybe in there stuff like enfamil nutrimegen actually helped my daughter with her CMPA as for my sister tried total comfort and her son broke out because it still has it and she switched to similac alimentum formula since it helped with the CMPA and he too has ezcema and his cleared up

Only issue with cmpa babies with formula with protein and or whey powder is they tend to have more black stools dont wanna eat as much, tummy aches and loads of screaming and fussiness. My daughter couldn't handle it when we were on similac and had to switch 8 different formulas behind this, many nights in the hospital almost months on end, oxygen because it again was just so bad we couldn't find her the proper formula

We were told the comfort milk would make ours worse (specifically his explosive poos) as it’s easier to digest but still contains cow’s milk. If you suspect it don’t bother with comfort milk and just start the process of trying prescription milks.

We tried comfort milk with our little one when the dr through it was ‘just reflux’ not CMPA and it made all the CMPA symptoms 10x worse. We ended up on hydrolysed formula and then onto amino acid formula as even the fully hydrolysed stuff didn’t cut it with us! I’d agree with the above and stay if you think it’s CMPA, stick to your gut feeling and push for a hydrolysed formula prescription to see if you see an improvement on that.

@Alexandria Thankyou! Did you see any improvement on the fully hydrolysed stuff before switching to the amino acid formula? x

We saw very very limited improvement, his skin improved slightly but it that was around it. We tried the hydrolysed for the full two weeks, but about three days after switching to amino acid we saw massive improvements!
