I’ve flown twice with baby. Most recently at Christmas. I would definitely say mornings are easier! I had to wake him at 4am for the outgoing flight which was much easier than waiting around alllll day for a night flight on the way home x
We flew when our wee one was 6 months, the flight was around 5 hours and we went during the day on the way there and at night time on the way back. We found that night time was definitely easier, he slept most of the way home. On our daytime flight he did try to nap but was woken by announcements on the flight and everyone clapping for someone’s 60th birthday so he ended up being quite fussy for a wee bit after that 😂 not sure if he’d be any different now he’s a wee bit older
I would say when baby is under 6 months, it's easier to fly when they are due a nap so they sleep on a flight. However, not sure about your baby but mine is very easily distracted and there is no way she would now nap on a plane 😂 I'd probably aim for a midday flight so she can have some nap before we leave or in the car on the way then be awake before hopefully falling asleep on the transfer on the other side. My little girl will sleep in a pram and we took the stroller with us so an airport nap is also an idea 👍 Maybe a 4pm flight? Depends how long the flight is too. We have always said that travel days, the kids can nap whenever they fall asleep and we will work bedtime out when we need to. Babies will crash out eventually
Younger they are, the easier to fly with. We don’t like early morning flights, I think it’s easier doing a midday or late afternoon flight as they have their normal nights sleep beforehand
I've been on 8 flights (4 trips) with my baby already as my family lives abroad. We've done time, early morning 6am, late evening flights.. personally I don't find much of a difference. That day is usually disturbed anyways, but then he's more tired and just falls into his own routine again. He usually has a nap on a plane as well as I think it's almost like white noise for him 🤭
It’s a tricky one, and I don’t know about your baby but with mine it would just depend on her mood on the day! We flew when she was 6 months (5.5 hours each way) and said we would want to travel at nighttime for long flights from now on as sleep drive is tough to overcome so she’d probably sleep, especially as the lights are low at night time. Whereas getting her to nap on the plane during the day when her sleep drive was lower and the lights were on was hell on earth. In almost 6 hours of flying she napped for 20 minutes whilst I held her in the back galley where the stewardesses turned the lights off for us. But, she’s changed so much since then, who knows if she’d now sleep at night time or being any better in the day 😅
