Misspelt baby name on Birth Certificate

I feel so stupid, when registering my daughters name I used the male spelling of her middle name by mistake as I’d seen it a lot leading up to the registration and had it in my head that it was the right spelling. The name is really important to me as it was my mums middle name and she passed away a couple of years ago. Now I feel so stupid for getting confused on what the right spelling was and ruining my daughter’s birth certificate. It was only registerd 9 days ago so I don’t know if there’s any way to fix it? Does anyone know if there’s a way to correct it as it’s breaking. my heart that her name is spelt wrong on such an important document ?

I think you contact the registry office to have it corrected, there is an additional fee for correcting it. It could be different for different areas but the lady that registered both my children said there was a £90 fee to have anything corrected x

You can amend it but there is about a £90 fee x

As the 2 other ladies have said its around £90 to correct it. When I registered my son I think they said it was between £80-90 depending on the mistake x

I am currently going through a correction bit aswell and it’s charging me £99. Emailed to registry office regarding the process and they sent a form that so need to fill in and need to certify a copy of my passport then send back to them. Once it gets approved, they will take E payment. Then once certificate ready can pay for the certificate to request the new version.

You can ammend it, but I think there is a cost to it. We double and triple checked as my middle name was spelt wrong when I was registered but it was never corrected but that was because my middle name was getting spelled in a non traditional way (I'm glad they got it wrong) and put surname is always spelt wrong so we were extra aware of checking spelling. Its easily done. Sleep deprived and all that

@Naurin Did they say to you that it would just be a marginal note or that it would actually be corrected?

They told me they can actually correct it and I will then need to order new certificate
