What are you doing? Like what method are you using? If have you stayed home for 3/4 days totally nappy free? When you take off nappy don't go back. You are taking it off (if kid is ready) and doesn't matter the circumstances (like going somewhere, shopping, visiting friends) you don't put it back. You stick to the no nappy rule. That's why you usually stay 4 days totally home, so you have the toilet always there
@Claire I'm sorry to say this, hope you don't feel judged, but maybe the reason of the delay in this case was this reward/punishment system. You shouldn't punish (take a star off) your kid for an accident. That's totally counterproductive. Kid will feel more pressure and anxious in a delicate moment. Reward yes, but absolutely do not punish
@Alessia no offence taken. This was brought in at the last minute, no knowing what else to try after having done potty training for almost 1 year, with very little success. It actually worked for us. My toddler knew fine well when she needed to go and some of it was just not wanting to go to the potty / toilet. In the end, we are all new to this and do what we can.
We’re struggling too. He hasn’t worn a nappy since November 2023 but at the moment it’s anywhere from zero accidents to five a day. It’s driving me insane and im also starting to wonder if there’s a medical issue or he just can’t be bothered.
Not the only one. We went through a phase with our toddler as well. Just keep going. It will get better. We used a star charts system and if she had accidents she had to give stars back. Once the chart full, she would decide on what reward she wanted - whether going out or a toy, book, coins
