What kind of piano? Like a keyboard or an upright?
Give what you can afford. It’s a church, if they’re judgmental about that, or if anyone else is judgmental about that then there’s a problem with them and not you.
If it’s an upright piano, a lot of people give them away for free. So don’t overthink the amount. It’s a donation.
They’re asking for money in exchange for an item, so…it’s not really free? Or perhaps I read your post incorrectly. If “money is tight”, this might not be the time to donate. If the item is free and you have nothing to give..so be it. Perhaps this time next year you’ll find yourself in a better position to give to your church and not be in a tight space. I might sound ill mannered (please excuse me) but I would rather ensure i have enough money for my expenses before helping others. What’s the saying… “Remember, put your mask on first before helping others.”
<10 if money is tight - nothing if you can’t afford anything - just let them know you’ll love it and take care of it - im sure they would be fine - maybe you could give a pound or two as an offering x
So the reason they're giving it for free but asking for a donation is to avoid paying taxes 😅! I'm involved in community theater. We sell concessions, but the sign says "Chips - Suggested Donation $2" etc. The reason is to avoid tax on it since we gave the item away, and someone decided to donate. That said, they're still giving it away so just give what you can!
You could probably get one completely for free elsewhere - and then not have this worry about it.
@Grace good to know
We gave 20. We have a piano. 🤼♂️🤼♂️🤼♂️💃💃🕺🕺
It’s a donation so save the embarrassment and give what you can. $25 is perfectly reasonable. If they wanted more, they should’ve sold it
