Expressed milk amounts

Baby is mostly exclusively fed expressed breast milk with the odd breastfeed, no formula. She's 3.5 weeks and has either 3 or 4oz per feed, depending on if she's going through a growth spurt. Do you increase amounts of breast milk in the same way as you would with formula? I read somewhere about not giving more than 4oz of breast milk but I don't get how that would work as they get older!

So breast milk is made by your body based on baby’s nutritional needs so no matter what their needs are being met, whereas the composition of formula doesn’t change which is why you need to increase the quantity. They say never give baby more than 5oz per feed for breast milk because of this

@Chrystalla that makes sense, thank you!

@Chrystalla who's they though? I have been told to go with the flow of what your baby needs..

I also mainly pump breast milk. I've just gauged how much based on whether she still gets hungry after feeds. Example she was being fed 80 ml every 2-3 hrs but now gets hungry before 2 hr mark so I've increase to 100. She's 4 weeks x
