Solids

Hi moms! My baby is 7 months and he is refusing any solids. I introduced solids (purees) at 6 months old. He can sit proberly and independently, he plays with food but never (ever) open his mouth to eat. Has anyone have the same problem? What do you recommend?

Is it only purees you have tried? E.g have you tried baby led weaning, letting him pick off your plate ?

It means he doesn’t need it ! He will eat when he is ready. No pressure.

Do you mix his food with your breastmilk or formula? Also, have you tried the more sweeter veggies like sweet potato? I started with that and then did green veggies after.

@Ema mmm, I let him pick from the plate, however, he ends playing with the food but never eating anything.

@Lamia I had a picky eater, I know how hard it can be. I pray it gets better.

Could be he’s not ready! Just because they hit the 6 month mark doesn’t always mean they themselves are ready. Try again in a few days or a week. My first was ebf and never liked purées or even other foods until about 9/10 months. My second will be 7 months tomorrow and besides purées will eat whatever I give her. Each baby is different. If you’re concerned you can also bring it up to babies pediatrician

I would start offering what you’re eating here and there. My LO hates most purées but finding he loves to try what I’m eating and also it depends on the time of day. He is more interested and eats more at night than in the morning. Food is fun most days he doesn’t eat much of his food but he tries at times.
