Laundry

How has everyone kept on top of their washing. We have a washer dryer so when I think I’m in the clear it’s time to wash the towels or the bedding! What are some ways people manage to keep on top of their washing Or From having less washing to wash in general.

I wash and dry all day but folding and storing is a challenge for me

Accepting that I needed to just start a load every morning has been a game changer. I keep a loose schedule, so usually Mondays are for bedding and Thursdays are towels. Other than that I’ll do a small load every morning of clothes, kitchen towels etc. being in the habit of just doing a little load every day makes it easy to stay on top of

@Joanna it’s the folding for me! Typically if I have a couple of loads that are dry I shove it on the bed so I have to do it 😅

@Erin every day? Like do have at least a days break? But might try and do something like that

Washing is not a problem for me it's the folding. I hate folding clothes so much when my little sister came to visit I payed her folding some😅

Its different for everyone and theres definitely trial and error until you find what works for you!! I have a separate dryer now but before when it was a washer / dryer it’d look something like this: After little one’s bed time, id bring a load down with me. Put it in the wash first thing. Then continue rest of remaining house work if any. Most days id put it in the dryer and then go bed. In the morning at some point / during nap time - id get it out of the dryer and fold and put away. I wasn’t always on top of it like this but this what I aimed for every day. And it worked better for me than accumulating it to have a days break lets say (especially with the dryer being integrated into the same machine)

I start the washer when I wake up. After breakfast I put everything in the dryer. I have a clothing rack on wheels that I can drag anywhere in the house so that I can hang clothes while I watch tv or throw an eye on my kid (our clothes go on the top rod, the kids clothes go on the middle rod and the laundry bin is on top of the bottom rack. I don’t fold clothes. It takes way too long, men in general love to pull the shirt on the bottom of the pile and all the clothes become a mess in seconds. I hang all my clothes right off the dryer and they rarely need any ironing. It takes me maybe 5min a day for a family of 3. On the weekend I wash all of our bedding starting in the morning. If there’s any clothes to wash I push them for the night which allows me enough time for all the bedding to wash and dry.

I have a schedule that i mostly stick too, no tumble dryer only line dry outside or air dryer with dehumidifier inside. Put away same day. Monday dark load Tuesday bedding Wednesday lights/whites Thursday dark load Friday towels No washing Saturday or Sunday. I put it on first thing in a morning, so I can put it to dry ASAP in the day. Sometimes I put the load in the washer with tablets the night before then just turn it on in the morning when I get up.

It’s hard for me. I don’t have a washer or dryer in my place. I have to take our laundry to my mom’s so it doesn’t get done that often. Just one day a week so we always have dirty laundry

I have a rough schedule throughout the week. I wash the sheets and towels on Sunday, my baby's clothes twice throughout the week usually, my husband's work clothes Friday night or Saturday, and my clothes (and anything miscellaneous) on Saturdays.

A load a day

I don’t go out much as I wfh and we are a family of 3 but my husband does must of his washing himself. I do our daughter’s on the same day each week and mine every 10 days or so and will wash towels and beddings all in a day. I now let it air dry in the spare room and usually ready to fold in a day or two and straight back into the drawers.

@Poppie yeah, I’d say I miss maybe 1 or 2 days a month, but doing it daily helps me stay on top of it. And smaller loads require less time to get it folded and put away. When I used to wait and do larger loads less often I’d never feel like I had time to get around to folding. But a small load takes me maybe 5 minutes to fold and that’s so manageable

I do a wash every day

We are always doing laundry it never fails lol, we have a total of 4 different baskets, parent clothes, son, daughter, towels. We try to get all those done lol but end up having to do it on the weekends
