Teacher shared parental leave

Teachers on matenrity leave have to return to work for 13 weeks before they can leave. I want to know if I stop my maternity leave early and start shared parental leave so I get paid through the holidays, does the paid holidays and shared parental leave blocks count towards the 13weeks or do I have to return physically for 13weeks.

I would also be very interested to hear this answer if anyone knows 🥰 xx

The paid holidays count but not the leave blocks

Look on the teacher group here for advice about how to do it. For your other question, you'd need to speak to HR as I'm not sure. It's a really good question!

The back to work weeks so the weeks you get paid do count. For example, I’ve been on maternity since end of June and by the time I return at the end of June this year, I have ‘returned’ for 5 weeks(Christmas, Easter and May HT) so that would mean I only owe back 6 weeks. In my case it would be less as summer hols kick in then! You have to give 8 weeks notice before starting shared paternity leave.
