Our car seat was included in our travel system and we bought that around 20 weeks as we were given money. I’m due on the 7th of May and have started a list of things to get done and a list for what to prepare now so I don’t overwhelm myself later on in pregnancy due to my adhd.
Car seat - whenever you want. We already bought ours in January sales and I think bought one for our first around the same time in pregnancy. First time around, I had everything ready in the house a long while before our daughter was born (beginning of 3rd semester I think), this time around I'm not going to bother because I know babies don't really need much - a place to sleep which at first will probably be a moses basket (we're getting a bedside crib as well but my first preferred the basket anyway), and a place to change them (a towel on the bed is good enough, although we do have one that we still use for our first). And some clothes and nappies but you'll get plenty as a gift and they are easy to get a hold of at short notice. Packing a hospital bag around week 30 gave me some peace of mind in my first pregnancy as well because I knew I could just get up and go so I will probably do that this time too x
I’ve learnt babies will come whenever they want and there’s no stopping them so I like to be prepared early on so we’re ready x
I got my entire travel system at 16 weeks
If money allows and you have space sooner rather than later is best, once I found out I was pregnant with my first I bought bits every month when we go paid by time I was 7 months I had everything pretty much. But as other comments say you don’t need everything you see over Facebook and Instagram. X
@Holly may ask please? Were you given money by the government as per your allowance? Or you mean something else? I honestly need to know when I can start applying for maternity allowance and when to start expecting the money.
I’ve bought mine - bought in January sales! I’m due 22nd May
@Jane Bernard https://www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance Maternity Allowance is a benefit you may receive if you don't qualify for maternity pay via your employer but you still have to fulfil some condition (see link above). You can apply as soon as you're 26 weeks but the payments won't start until you're on mat leave or equivalent (so 29 weeks at the earliest)
@Holly hello , is it one where you can remove from the car seat adapter & fix directly on the stroller? Can I please know where you got it from?
@Alice can I please know where you got it from ?
@Paulina I see. Thank you !
Girl go for it! I’m on #4 so we already have pretty much everything already my youngest is only 6 months old. I’ll probably start pulling everything back out around the 30 week mark so it’s done and I don’t let it slip to last minute
In all honesty, I dont think you can ever be too prepared. If you have the space to store it and the money ready to go, I would do it now. Mainly so that as you get closer to your due date, it's one less thing to think about :)
