Ssi back pay

Hi. My son just got approved today for SSI. We haven’t received a payment yet which I’m not expecting yet. However I am wondering what types of things did you buy with the back pay? We have only been waiting 5.5 months but idk how much he’s been approved for. If you want to tell me how much you get for one child that would be cool, but not required.

It all depends on your household income and expenses.

We get 1040 every month and if your over a certain amount of back pay they’re going to expect you to make a deticated account for the funds which is a bank account that they can’t touch until their 18

Also you need to provide them With a bank account that’s under your child’s name so they can put the money in every month

@Angelina I'm assigned as my child's designated payee, the bank account is in my name.

@Amber Yes, it is heavily based on income. There are categories that separate earned income and unearned income. You can calculate your expected payments using the social security administration website.
