How long do you give your little one to eat?

Some days my little girl eats really well and we can be finished a meal in 15 mins or so but other times she seems completely disinterested in eating and just wants to play with her food and make a mess. I feel like my partner gets very impatient/frustrated and wants to end her meal time within a few minutes of her throwing food around whereas I feel making a mess is part of learning about food. Today, for example, after eating a few bites, she made a big mess with her egg sandwich but she did eventually pick up some of the pieces and eat them herself after having a play. If we had cut off her meal time when my partner wanted, she wouldn’t have had those extra few bites of food. So it got me wondering - how long do most people give their little ones to eat roughly? Do you just feel it out or have a time frame in your head before you call it quits?

About an hour😂my girls a really really slow eater but she’s eats amazingly. There’s not been one thing that she hasn’t liked or refused to eat and she finishes every meal. She makes an absolute mess as well😂I let her eat in just a nappy with no bib or anything because it’s all about them exploring if that means she wants to smear it on her belly then so be it. But she doesn’t ever do things like that because thru letting her take control she eats completely independently at her own speed x

He often plays with his his a while and doesn't appear hungry for the first 5-10 minutes and then scoffs the lot gradually we normally stay until he's full of had enough of sitting still which can sometimes be a long while never actually timed it though

We usually spend 1 - 1 1/2 hours at meal time. If my toddler hasn’t eaten everything I leave it on the table and he’s allowed to go back and forth to pick.

About an hour each meal. She often plays/ throws food but then gets back into it and eats a lot more

We do 30/40 mins same as at nursery :)
