NHS Complaints

I have just found out today after 12 weeks of breastfeeding issues and constantly having people check my latch that my baby has tongue tie. She's on the bottom percentile for weight and struggling to stay on it. No one has even bothered to check at all for 3 months and I am absolutely livid. Can anyone tell me where I go to complain about this please? I'm now going to have to pay privately to have it sorted which is a struggle in my area anyway due to lack of clinics. ABSOLUTELY F***ING LIVID!!!!!

Pals - contact the pals team . So sorry this has happened to you xx

When you say no one’s checked the weight they have told you that you have to go and have baby weighed yourself in your local children’s centre ( not sure how old your baby is) Think you just fill out form on NHS complaints

Not sure which trust/hospital you're under but if you google the trust name and PALS it should give you the right address to fill out the complaint x

@Katie louise no I've been having her weighed pretty much every 2 weeks constantly raising concerns saying I thought something was wrong because she's so small and it's taken 12 weeks for finally a HV at one of the hubs to offer a referral to the feeding team and now the NHS won't help past 12 weeks.

Tongue tie often gets missed because there aren’t many people within the NHS who are specifically trained in it. My experience with tongue tie and my little boy was absolutely hell. He was constantly choking, horrific vomiting and reflux. I paid private to get his tongue tie released and ensured I got aftercare for him to teach him how to move his tongue properly. It’s common sense to me to take a holistic approach to “why” babies are having feeding issues..instead they change formula, put them on strong medication and if none of that works, force feed. It also happened to my nephew who has failure to thrive and was tube fed, turned out he had a tongue tie which physically stopped him being able to feed- it’s infuriating

We used bump, boobs & Babi over in Newport to get our sons cut. I had trouble latching and no support, just took it upon myself to sort after reading it’s really hard to sort on the NHS. https://bumpboobsbabi.co.uk/

Thank you, yeah I'm about done now. I emailed Pals and they've obviously got on it because I funnily enough got a phone call and appointment this week. I'll be following up anyway because 12 weeks and no one's bothered to even look despite constant observations and low weight gain is down right negligent. She has an appointment now on Friday but if they don't deal with it I'll be going back to the place in Cardiff I had found privately. They'd just rather consistently pass the buck. All of the time, well they won't be Friday!

@Jazmin That's horrendous!!!!!

Make sure they give you (and explain) post release exercises rather than just hand you a bit of paper and shove you out the door🙄
