Potty training help mommas!!

My daughter is 4 and I am having a hard time potty training her at night. She loves drinking milk in the bed and I've cut that but she was sneaking in the bathroom and getting water from the sink, and the bathtub. I've started locking that door and put a small potty in her room. But she still has accidents. I'm just stuck on what to do. Her doctor said some kids don't catch on until 6/7 so wearing a pull up is fine because waking them up from a dead sleep makes them more tired. My MIL will say "she woke up every hour with her kids and took them to the potty and that's how she done it." My daughter is fully pottyctrained during the day. My son is 3 and I'm working on potty training him and he still wears a pull up on long car rides and at bed could that be why my daughter wants to wear a pull up?

Night time dryness isn't something you can train. Stop pushing it! She'll get there when she's ready.

@Bethany That makes sense. Some nights she does good then some nights we will have accidents and I know it upsets my daughter.

As the others have said it’s a hormonal change that happens overnight so it’s totally okay and normal she hasn’t got it yet

@Caroline I always ask her if she wants to wear panties or a diaper so I leave it up to her to decide on what she would like to do.i definitely dont push it bc i know it can be stressful to her. No one has told me it's the hormonal thing. Her doctor has always told me it's just something in there brain that will click.

@Francesca thank you ma'am.

👋☺ Hi. Since bladder control isn't something we can train nor "teach" a sleeping child to hold in their pee while they're sleeping, this part kind'a just gradually progressively happens on its own over time. Its more biological at this stage. Staying dry thru sleeping, naps & night time potty training usually comes on its own naturally and later in the potty training process. Here's a quick video for you that explains the stages & steps of night time potty training and when you can expect to transition from bed time diapers/nappies to pull-ups to wearing underwear for bed time. 😴 https://youtu.be/fSrqvG3BMXo

Something that helped our son to night time potty train was to take him out of diaper and pull ups and have him in training undies along with a type of potty training pants so that his sheets didn’t get wet and that saved me from washing sheets nightly. I would have to wash the potty training sleep pants and training undies but that was better to me than stripping and making a bed. It helped him to connect that brain body connection with accidents at night bc it also woke him up peeing on himself bc he could feel it. It was a little rough at first bc he was obviously waking up but he found his grove quickly and would change in to new ones we’d set up a little drawer in the bathroom for his pants and undies. We got our sleep training pants off Amazon, do they look goofy yes but they work!
