3 month old who won’t sleep!

My EBF 3month old will not sleep! During the day he will only have 30 minute cat naps in his next to me unless he is in the carrier or contact napping. He also wakes every 3 hours during the night and I am exhausted and desperate for some sleep! any advice on how to get him sleeping better for naps and in the night?!

Has he always been like that or just changed now?

I have no advice for naps. My LO is just about 3.5 months and will only contact nap on me.. even so, lately he’s a 30 min napper 4 times per day and then one nap is usually long we get.. from what a gather from my mom groups this is pretty normal and will eventually improve! For nighttime my best advice is to make sure baby is full before bed. But also from what I understand nighttime is when breast milk has the most nutrients! Otherwise, for us at nighttime we always do the same routine and that seems ti have helped my LO work out nighttime. (I wish it was that easy during the day 😂)

Hey! This happened to me as well As I researched! It’s totally normal! I was EBF too so that connection is very special! 13 months later my baby wakes up very 2-3 hours too to breastfeed! It’s for their comfort and becomes a habit. Also same for the naps! I struggled a lot but it gets better.

That's all perfectly normal. Your baby wants to be close to you so will much prefer to contact nap. During the night he'll get hungry as still had a little tummy and it reduces the risk of SIDS because they don't get into as deep a sleep. I found partly it was about me changing how I approached it. So for contact napping grab the remote and watch something on tv, or settle with a book or some admin to do. Make sure before hand you've had a wee and grab some snacks and a drink. Bedtime, either go to bed earlier so you get a longer night, or find a position where you can safely latch him on and fall asleep. I barely wake now to latch on as then my sleep is minimally disturbed. Sorry that's not what you want to hear but it will change as he grows and everything only lasts a short while

@Lisa he’s always been like it since birth, absolutely fights sleep, always has done but is getting slightly better as he gets older!
