Struggling to eat at nursery

So my little boy started nursery last week. This week has been his first full day week. I’ve been called in today to pick him up because he just wouldn’t eat or drink anything offered to him. When I got there I gave him his water bottle and he drank it straight away.. I’m so torn I go back to work next week. Has any other mum had this issue?

Sometimes children take a little longer to feel comfortable to eat and drink at nursery. Will the nursery allow you to take in some of his fave snacks just so that he is at least having something to eat?

I’m having the same issue, no advice just can relate 😔

@Jayne So they have a no food from home policy but I carried put some snacks from home in his bag and they gave it to him but he didn’t want it still. Soo hard and stressful!

@Katie oh gosh I hope they get better.. my little boys not the greatest eater. He’d have breast milk only if he could

Just as some comfort, my little boy was on ‘hunger strike’ at nursery for a good 3-4 weeks! I used to pack 2 bottles to make sure he was still having something and wouldn’t be starving as I knew he’d drink them. He started with eating the puddings, so yoghurts and sometimes fruit and custard and slowly started trying more, but I work at the same nursery at the other end and tbh the food can be a bit odd, lots of lentils and beans mixed in things so I’m not surprised he doesn’t eat a lot of the offerings, neither do the 3 year olds in my room 😂. It will get better when he settles in more, it takes time 🩵. xx

My boy also isn't a great eater at home and would rather just breastfeed if he had his way. He wouldn't eat at nursery for a good week and a half but in the last week he's suddenly started eating really well there (way more than he does at home). I know how worrying it is when they're refusing everything but honestly your little one will get there and will eat when they're properly hungry! X
