I’m having the same issue, no advice just can relate 😔
@Jayne So they have a no food from home policy but I carried put some snacks from home in his bag and they gave it to him but he didn’t want it still. Soo hard and stressful!
@Katie oh gosh I hope they get better.. my little boys not the greatest eater. He’d have breast milk only if he could
Just as some comfort, my little boy was on ‘hunger strike’ at nursery for a good 3-4 weeks! I used to pack 2 bottles to make sure he was still having something and wouldn’t be starving as I knew he’d drink them. He started with eating the puddings, so yoghurts and sometimes fruit and custard and slowly started trying more, but I work at the same nursery at the other end and tbh the food can be a bit odd, lots of lentils and beans mixed in things so I’m not surprised he doesn’t eat a lot of the offerings, neither do the 3 year olds in my room 😂. It will get better when he settles in more, it takes time 🩵. xx
My boy also isn't a great eater at home and would rather just breastfeed if he had his way. He wouldn't eat at nursery for a good week and a half but in the last week he's suddenly started eating really well there (way more than he does at home). I know how worrying it is when they're refusing everything but honestly your little one will get there and will eat when they're properly hungry! X
My youngest didn’t eat anything at all for the first 3 days he did. Then ate like a sparrow for the next few days that he went. But the nursery are doing all they can, and he has no way to communicate with words that he doesn’t feel settled, so he’s letting everyone know that way instead 🙃 He will not starve himself, and when they’re offering him food frequently, trying different ways and different things, I trust that he’ll eat enough to get by. Then he normally breastfeeds straight away, and then I offer more food at home too. It won’t last. But it feels absolutely horrible whilst it’s happening!!
We had this issue and I got called to collect him and he’s now been there 4 months and today he’s had two breakfasts 🤣🤣 it took about a week but he settled and realised he needed to eat there or he wasn’t getting anything!
My son did the same and was starving when I picked him up and ate everything in the car before we even got home. But he has started eating a little more now I think it takes time.
I work at a nursery and we had this with one of our babies. It literally took us taking them to the fridge and picking out different foods to try. They ended up eating the blueberries and we noticed they absolutely LOVED them. It got them to start eating and then everytime they went near the kitchen they would point at the fridge and go "booberries, booberries" 😂 it was so cute
These success stories are making me hopeful! I just got off the phone with nursery & he’s still going on his hunger strike 😩 not even water.. my poor little bubba x
@Naomi funny you say this today’s lunch was a five bean chilli lol, he won’t even take his bottle but hopefully soon he’ll get used to the environment! Happy your boy made a turn xx
Sometimes children take a little longer to feel comfortable to eat and drink at nursery. Will the nursery allow you to take in some of his fave snacks just so that he is at least having something to eat?
