@Vivian thanks for your reply. Is that the same flavour for 3-7 days or just the same thing so either porridge or puree? X
I started when Bubs was 4 months. He has had banana porridge kendamil brand and sweet potato. I actually gave just because he seemed ready. Baby boy devoured everything and was so upset when anything finished lol. I haven’t been giving it daily just every so often
@Kelsey I didn’t start with porridge. What I did was use earths best cereal and just added some into his purées. I did apple for 4 days, then pear for 4 days and so on and so for…he’s been on purees for about a month and I’ve started mixing different flavors together. He prefers his purées a little thicker than they come though .
They suggest just plain mashed potatoes or foods that are less acidic for reflux babies! My little one has had carrots, carrot&suede, peas, weetabix and Farleys rusk biscuits. The peas I removed the outside skin and put into a feeding dummy so he could chew and remove himself, same with the carrots and carrot and suede! Farleys rusk was mixed with kettle water and left to cool, he then has the bowl with a spoon, weetabix I mixed with milk and he had that in the bowl with the spoon again! They say to try the same thing at least 3 days in a row to rule out allergies etc. you’ll be okay mumma, stay strong and trust your ability!x
I won’t b starting till at least 6 months n she is showing all the signs. I’m in school to become a holistic healthcare practitioner n I learned that when babies r very colicly most likely they have an excess of candia. When u were preg did u take any antibiotics?
@Vanessa I will be waiting until my baby is 6 months too.
@Justyna yes it’s much better for them.
@Vanessa sometimes there is no other option due to nothing working to help the reflux and if babies start to drop in weight then weaning is best practice to keep the weight gain / stable.
We started at four months with my first! He absolutely loved it. We blended our own veggies adding a little breastmilk into it to make purées and froze them down into cubes to use whenever we needed. He didn’t take to porridge until he was maybe 6 months but it wasn’t for lack of trying. We gave him purées in between feeding times so it didn’t interrupt his bottle feeding schedule as that’s still their main source of nutrition x
We give our son purées in between his normal feeds and he LOVES them
@Kelsey if everything has been tried n they tried getting to the root of the problem then yes sometimes it’s needed. However I feel it’s rare that everything has been tested n they start on solids a bit young. As I said tho I feel it can be an excess of candia I’d look into pro n prebiotics they could help.
Starting helped my baby boys reflux also ! I was nervous about him having reactions to foods but he’s been doing great. He’s had apples, pears, broccoli, carrots, sweet potato, prunes, bananas, strawberries. I’m also probably missing some but he’s been great. I say start slow. Just a little taste a day . Same thing for 3-7 days .
