Your besties sent you a wedding invitation….and you need your passport (destination wedding): Are you going?

We got an invite to a wedding in Italy and it sounds dreamy and fun! But… financially (for us)….the cost to attend is crazy high based on our current financial position. -flights -hiring a sitter -husband taking PTO when we can use it for family vacation -outfit -hotels -gifts for bride & groom -food -being a tourist

If you can swing it financially AND want to spend your money that way, great!! But if not, send a nice gift and probably call them to explain that you’re sad you can’t go, but want to celebrate once they’re back.

lol who’s your bestie?? My bestie is getting married in Italy this year too!!I’m pretty sure we’re bringing our LO who will be almost 18 months at the time. A little daunting to think about, financially and mentally, etc. so we’re doing our research now and hoping to save up enough to make it work!

If it was truly my best friend I would absolutely make it work. I can't imagine not being there for one of the biggest events of her life!

For my best friend I’d swing it but I am absolute not buying a gift lol me being there is enough when it cost that much.

Also — most people who book something like this (destination wedding, child free, etc.) should know that not everyone will attend.

Their gift is me lol

If we had the money, id probably make a vacation of it honestly. But otherwise, no, I wouldn't go. I'm not going into debt for a wedding

I’m going but I’m from the uk. I assume you’re in the US?

This is my personal opinion but I wouldn’t ever go to a destination wedding. From every post I’ve ever seen it is always so stressful and expensive. I’m the type that would send a gift and just tell them we will get together after the wedding. I just couldn’t bring myself to break the bank for one day, I wouldn’t expect it from other people if it was my wedding

If people decide to get married abroad, they should factor in that some might not be able to attend (finance, health, flying fears)
