It does make things financially a bit tighter obviously but like Katie said, budgeting really helps. But for me it was the best decision I ever made, can’t ever get this time back.
Oh and obviously depending on your situation you can claim UC and have till they turn 3 before you have to look for work x
I went from being a sahm to being self employed and working. Soon I will be going back to being a sahm because I'm expecting my 2nd baby in the summer. Financially it can have an impact depending on your average earnings. I use a spread sheet with all of my income and outgoings and then wiggle things around like subscriptions and credit etc if I need to. I always make sure I have enough money to cover bills etc. anything that's residual I put to one side for a rainy day. I got used to having less money quite quickly the first time around after maternity and it became the new normal. I like to see it as a trade for time 😄 time has more value than money. As long as you can pay your bills you will be fine x
