Daycare or nanny? Tell me your nanny experience. Thinking of switching.
Tell me about the pros and cons of getting a nanny?!
Our 3 year old currently goes to daycare but our 4 month old is set to go to the same one next month but just in the past month our toddler has gotten him sick TWICE now, one needing an ER and overnight stay with RSV. I’m not sure I can take this every other week so we are thinking of making the switch thinking it might be easier with sickness and would be nice not having to do morning drop offs. We are trying to convince my daughters old daycare teacher actually to quit her job and do it because we just love her so much haha!!
I do love the socialization for my toddler but it’s only a year and a half because then she goes to kindergarten in which we would then switch back to daycare since my son would be older by then and daycare would become much cheaper with only 1 kid.
What is your opinion? My only annoyance is the fact the hours would be less (nanny would get off at 4/4:30pm and daycare is open until 6pm) so it would be harder to go to the gym after work cause usually I would do the gym 5-6pm. But i guess i could workout in the morning at home because i wouldn’t be having to wake the kids and get them ready.
Can I get your opinions?!!!
hi friend! there is lots of pros to having a nanny instead of doing daycare! as a daycare teacher myself, it would be hard to nanny only because when you nanny, lots of times, you don’t have health insurance and stuff like that so if you’re trying to convince the daycare teacher to leave one of the things that could be holding her back is insurance, 401k etc. so definitely think abt that! the other thing is if the daycare teacher does refuse, finding a nanny that fits ur family can be really difficult. with daycare, being sick often is inevitable and if u do decide to stick on the daycare grind be sure to wash ur children’s hands every day at pick up and pick up the older child first before ur baby so ur not exposing the baby to the big kid classroom and germs (and theoretically u just washed ur other child’s hands/they could wait outside baby’s classroom etc. to not contaminate the classroom). i’m sure u will decide what is best for u and ur family but good luck if u try it out! 🤍
