Movements

Anyone first pregnancy - when have you started feeling movements and is it obvious that’s what it is? Currently 18 weeks - haven’t felt anything yet (I don’t think - little twinges but more like pulled muscle not bubbles - which was how was described to me)

It's pretty normal with a first pregnancy that movements happen a bit later around the 24 mark part onwards. Little twinges can be baby moving around or stretching. I genuinely wouldn't worry, but if you do have concerns you can ring the maternity unit for a check or your midwife. When that first kick happens, it's pretty weird and cool at the same time, though.

I’m just under 19 weeks and haven’t really felt anything yet. My understanding is that the twinges are the round ligament which goes around the uterus which is stretching. Really hoping to feel them soon though!

I’m 18 weeks and change and have felt occasional flutters but not proper kicks and such. My cat likes to nap next to my tummy and she got spooked a few days ago, so even though I did not feel movement, guessing the cat did? 🤣

This is my first pregnancy and things ramped up for me at 19 weeks. I had the odd sensation from about 17 weeks. But now it doesn’t stop 🤭 I am 20 weeks. Xx

I felt movements from 17weeks but only the bubbling or rolling sensation, I’ve now started feeling what I assume are kicks but my partner can’t feel them. We were adamant we both felt it kick when I was 17 weeks but now I’m wondering if it wasn’t a kick 🫣 im nearly 19 weeks now and I can feel him/her moving in the evenings if I’m laid on my back

I’m feeling the occasional pulsing or popping, I’m 17+5

It's my first pregnancy too, I started feeling movements from 18 weeks but they were so faint and inconsistent and I wasn't sure they were movements at all. It's only now a couple of weeks later that they've developed into recognisable movements that I can say for sure that's what I was feeling. It felt like a twitching muscle to me, nothing like the fluttering/swishing/swimming I'd heard people describe!

@Alice I’m exactly the same as this 🤣 it definitely didn’t feel like bubbling/fluttering!

Oh and my placenta is posterior which makes a difference! Posterior makes them easier to feel than anterior apparently. Just seen someone above describe it as pulsing, that's similar to what I feel!

@Maddie same and also same about feeling them most in the evenings when on my back!

@Alice if I lay on my back and put my hand on my tummy I can feel the baby moving like across the palm of my hand if I get it in the right spot! It’s wild!
