Does it go back to “normal” down there after giving birth?

Hi guys, I’m only 15 weeks but as I’m doing research on the baby and labor, I’m wondering; Is it best to tear or not tear? Does tearing make it more similar to pre-baby or not tearing? Mommas does our lady parts go back to looking like it did pre-baby after labor or does it change permanently? Ladies never talk about these things and I’m nervous!! Sorry this is TMI I just need some big sister advice about this

So I think it kinda changes the way it looks after a few kids. I never tore and I hope I don’t with this one either but we shall see! Baby number 4 for me! I think in general you heal better or quicker the less trauma you have down there.

I have one child and I tore giving birth. It was my fault because I had gained too much weight and wasn’t being active or exercising. It did go back to normal though. But no worries, you will be fine.

I tired also. Goes back to normal. At least mine did. It's like getting stitches anywhere else on the body. Helps close it. It heals.

Tearing depends on your ob/midwife and how good they are at stitching. With my first the ob botched it and I had literal bumps at the back that got so irritated all the time. But with my second the midwife fixed it and you could not tell I ever had them. With my third same thing she did a great job. Now something else entirely, my vagina seemed to be just like a bit bigger after my third? On the outside I mean, Idk how to explain it well, but apart from that it was the same.

I did not tear. I was pretty much back to normal by my 6 week check! I sprung back!

Thank you all so much!!!

i didn’t tear , as soon as the swelling went down for me (literally within a couple days) i was normal again :) i also make *content* for a living so i am confident in saying that bc there is before and after proof LOL & for the record i gained 25 pounds in the pregnancy :-)
